IT seems a girl’s best mate just has to vibrate – with sex toys nowadays a must-have item for the bedside drawer.
Earlier this month we told how Kim Kardashian has a Louis Vuitton trunk full of sex toys, according to her ex boyfriend, singer Ray J.
So what is the buzz around the gadgets?

‘I have some stunning ones as works of art’
BLOGGER Laura Morningside is proud of her collection of 40 toys.
The 36-year-old, from Macclesfield, Cheshire, is a mum of two and also has two stepchildren with her partner, fellow blogger Aaron, 34.
She bought her first toy at 18 and says: “I’ve actually culled my collection recently – it used to be about 80.
“Sex toys have been a big part of my life since my late teens. Using a sex toy by myself or with a partner is very normal.
“Over the years I’ve bought one or two a year.
“When I met Aaron three years ago, he was reviewing sex toys for his blog – and I was in heaven.
“I like getting new toys, working out how they operate and the best way to use them.
“Some toys are better for use by yourself and others for use as a couple.
“My collection consists of all sorts of vibrators, whips, electrical stimulation devices for me and for use on a man, and loads of other accessories.
“I keep them in a drawer near the bed.
“When the kids are away and friends pop over for coffee they will often spot sex toys which I have left out.
“The most expensive was £200 for an electrical stimulation kit.
“I have some stunning ones as works of art too.
“I’d say Aaron and I use a toy together about four times a week. Using them on my own helps me destress. It’s like meditation.
“I’m hoping for some more toys for Christmas.”
‘I love role-playing with whips and masks’
PUBLIC relations worker Shanea Marshall loves spicing up her sex life with toys and outfits.
The 22-year-old single Londoner has four favourite toys in her collection and says: “I like to explore new things, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
“I hate the stigma that is attached to women using toys.
“The fact is, women need toys more than men do. I like to add some variety to the bedroom.
“I love role-playing, dressing up and using all sorts of accessories, such as whips and masks.
“I tend to go to the Ann Summers shop to buy my saucy secrets.
“I did once have one very embarrassing incident after going shopping there for some more naughty items.
“I went for a drink later and ended up accidentally leaving my bag in the bar.
“When I went back to fetch it later, the barman gave me a knowing smile when he handed it over to me. He had obviously had a nosey in there.
“I’m not in the least surprised that Kim Kardashian has a Louis Vuitton trunk full of fabulous sex toys.
“If I had the same income as she does I would do the same.
“I love the idea that she has a vintage Gucci thong – I would love one of those myself.
“It’s great that Kim is so open about her sex life.
“People should give new experiences ago – you only live once.”
‘Airport security feared vibrator was weapon’
SINGLE Laurie Jade Woodruff, 30, author of The Fantasy Diaries and the upcoming Diary Of A Sex Addict, is mum to baby Henry, 15 months.
Laurie, of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, says: “I have had a high sex drive ever since I can remember but I didn’t start exploring toys until I was 21.
“Now I own toys, accessories and lots of naughty lingerie.
“I love to dress up in sexy lingerie regularly when I have a partner. It’s fun, especially if it involves role-play.
“I think toys are a nice addition, both alone and in a relationship.
“The men I have dated didn’t seem intimidated by them and were happy to introduce them.
“I’m not very good at keeping them hidden, though.
“I remember once I got stopped in Dusseldorf Airport when I took my Rabbit in my hand luggage. The security people thought it was a weapon.
“I had another embarrassing moment when I was moving house.
“My stepdad was helping me move and we heard something vibrating in a box.
“I knew straight away what it was and went into another room to hide. I just prayed it would stop on its own.
“I don’t know if he opened the box and secretly turned it off to save my embarrassment but we never talked about it and to this day I still don’t know.
“I’m having some time off from relationships at the moment, so my toys are very useful indeed.
“They don’t moan or say mean things – like some men.”
‘A toy doesn’t moan at you – unlike a man’
SHOP worker Hayley Leeanna, 32, is dating and lives in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
She has eight sex toys, which include various vibrators, as well as blindfolds and handcuffs.
She says: “Looking back, I was quite a bold 19-year-old to go into a shop and buy my first sex toy, a Rampant Rabbit, which had a lot of hype at the time, and rightly so.
“It’s a crazy one to have and I found it very intense. I love the thrill of getting a new toy.
“I’ll buy one every three months or so from stores like lovehoney.co.uk.
“I’ve got mini vibrators, ones that look realistic and a beautiful, girlie, glittery one.
“Then I’ve got accessories such as handcuffs and a blindfold.
“I keep my stash of goodies in my bottom drawer so I can dip in whenever I feel the urge.
“I had a laugh the other night when I heard this faint buzzing and couldn’t work out what it was.
“It sounded like a mosquito. In the end, I found the source was in my bottom drawer.

“Vibrators are a girl’s best friend – they don’t moan or say anything horrible to you, unlike some men. I’m quite adventurous in bed.
“I like wearing outfits and role play, and I’m lucky that my partners have always been quite up for playing with my toys too.
“When I read about Kim Kardashian, I thought, ‘Good for her.’
“She’s a hot young woman and she’s having fun, there’s nothing wrong with that. I’d tell any woman who hasn’t tried one that you’re missing out.”
